More than one home

Most people keep one inventory of one house. If you have two or more homes or properties, this chapter is for you. Home features are hidden until you create a second home or property under Settings → Homes. If you have a cabin, a rental, or a garage on the other side of town, this is how the app keeps them apart.

What counts as a home#

A home is a building. A house, a rental, a cabin, a garage, a storage unit. This is the organization above rooms, so the model runs home, then room, then bin, then item.

Adding one#

To create an additional home, go to Settings → Homes.

Your first home already exists. It arrives named "Home" the first time the app syncs, with every room you have ever made inside it, and you can rename it there to whatever you actually call it.

The home you are working in#

Making a home switches you into it, so the next room you create lands there. The bin form gains a Home row showing which building you are filing into, and the room picker under it narrows to that building's rooms. To switch, tap that row, or go back to Settings → Homes and pick one. The one you are in says "Working here".

Looking at one home, or all of them#

Toggle to view one property or all of them: the default is All homes, everywhere.

A row of chips appears at the top of the rooms list, search, and the screen the app opens on. Pick a home and those screens narrow to it. Pick All homes and you are back to everything. The choice lasts as long as the app is open and is deliberately not remembered.

Two honest details:

• Attention Needed does not narrow. Loans, reminders and low stock stay whole under every filter. They are driven by time rather than place, and a due date should not be hidden because of where you happened to be browsing.
• A bin's home comes from its room. A bin you never filed into a room sits in your first home.

On the web the same row sits under the page title, on both the dashboard and the rooms page. Adding and renaming stay in the mobile app.

What it does not do yet#

• Homes cannot be deleted. Rename one you no longer use, or leave it be.
• A room cannot move between homes. Rooms are created in whichever home you are working in, so pick the home first. Bins and items move freely; rooms do not move buildings.
• The CSV export ignores the filter. It always writes your whole inventory, and its columns stop at room and location, so which home a bin is in is not in the file.
